The Essential Facial Treatment for Oily Skin
Tuesday, June 30th, 2009Oily skin is actually a blessing in disguise. This is because people with oily skin do not get wrinkles quite easily. Their skin ages slowly when compared to others who do not have an oily skin.
However oily skin comes with its own set of problems. First of all, it will give you an untidy look. Secondly, if you don’t clean your face properly then you may develop acne or pimples.
So you need a good facial cleanser for oily skin. This facial cleanser will help in cleaning the grease off. You have to regularly clean the grease and oil off your face or else the oil will cause dirt to stick on to your face. This dirt and filth would then clog up the pores of your skin and cause acne.
When choosing a facial cleanser, opt for one which contains salicylic acid. This salicylic acid is excellent for people suffering from acne and rosacea. Most of the popular facial creams, facial moisturizers and lotions contain this ingredient.
But be careful as frequent use of facial moisturizers for oily skin, which contain this chemical, can make your skin very dry. Therefore if the facial cream you are using contains salicylic acid then do not use it more than once or twice a day.
While choosing any facial moisturizer for oily skin, make sure that it does not dry up the skin completely for the whole day. If it is too strong it can be harmful for your skin in the long run. It is preferable to stay with mild cleansers that do their job and do not cause too much dryness for your skin.
A lot of people would want a homemade solution to their oily skin problem. They do not want to go for expensive skin care products. Such people may be pleasantly surprised to know that items present in their kitchen cabinets can help to make their skin beautiful.
1. Honey, lemon juice, apples, cucumbers, cumin etc are good for your health as well as for acquiring a great looking skin. If you have pimples on your face, then put some cabbage in boiling water. Now cool off the leaves and apply on your face for about 10 minutes. This can be an excellent treatment for pimples.
2. You can make a paste by first liquefying cucumber in a blender and mixing it with yogurt. This can also serve as an excellent homemade facial cleanser for oily skin.
3. Another good idea for oily skin treatment is to grate a few apples and mix them with honey. Apply on your face and leave it for 10-15 minutes.
4. Applying honey and cinnamon to your face at night is also a good option as a facial moisturizer for oily skin.
The beauty of using such homemade cleansers is that they are cheap and mostly contain natural ingredients which would not cause harmful side effects to your cherished skin.
Now you can have a great looking skin without emptying your pockets on expensive and often time’s harmful products available in the market. Even if you do go for such products, make sure that they are gentle on your skin.

Oily Facial Skin : Easy to care?
Tuesday, June 30th, 2009When your facial skin has a lot of shine, is prone to blackheads and acne and has course pores and other embarrassing blemishes, you can categorize it as oily facial skin. The sebaceous glands in this type of skin produce a lot of oil which may either be due to hereditary reasons or diet, climate or one’s skin care products.
Oily facial skin has its advantages. It ages slower than dry skin. But proper care is needed to reduce the effects of oil producing sebaceous glands.
The trick is to prevent pores from getting clogged. Keep your skin clean and free of dirt. Yet do not over wash your face. Three to four times a day is decent enough. Frequent washes may trigger your oil glands. Use hot water while washing as it dissolves skin oil better. You may want to wash with natural things like orange-peel powder or sandalwood powder once in the mornings. They are good for removing dirt from pores. At other times use gentle face washes.
Drink plenty of water and keep your body free of toxins. Remember, this is one huge step in getting closer towards a glowing complexion. The more toxins and harmful bacteria you get rid of the better it is for your oily face skin.
When in teens you may want to skip the moisturizing part completely if your skin is very oily. When it comes to oily facial skin, moisturizing is not as big a deal as cleansing. Focus more on cleansing than on moisturizing. A touch of moisturizer preferably a natural oil-free one in the mornings will do.
Cleanse your skin with care. Avoid heavy cleansing lotions and harsh soaps and go for light, non-greasy liquid cleansers. Also avoid cleansers that over dry your skin as this causes your skin to produce even more oil. If your skin feels exceptionally dry after using a particular cleanser stop its use.
Cosmetics and other skin products must be chosen with care. Look for products that are specifically designed for oily facial skin.
Apart from external care follow basic dietary habits and enjoy the results. Avoid sugar and salt in your diet. Include plenty of leafy green vegetables, fresh fruits and proteins.
Consume less oil. Avoid fried food and reduce the amount of fat. Steer clear of soft drinks. Chocolate and junk food are a strict no. And finally, strictly do not smoke.
What else can we do to treat oily facial skin?
Exercise regularly. Regular exercise can be difficult for some people. The trick here is to not consider exercise as a separate act. Try to do things manually and involve more physical movements in doing things. Leave the car and take a walk instead when you can. Do regular chores around the house. Exercise does great benefit to oily face skin as it boosts circulation and encourages blood flow.
Last but not the least – get a good night’s sleep. Sleep is a resting phase for the body and during this phase the body’s repair activity is at its best.
With proper care and precautions in place oily facial skin should not be a problem. Feel blessed that your skin will look young even as your body ages!

Dry Facial Skin Care In Simplest Ways
Thursday, June 25th, 2009Dry facial skin is not a condition that is particular to people belonging to some regions. It is a common condition and people from all over the world suffer from it. It can be caused by over-exposure to the sun, using harsh chemicals and drying agents on the skin etc.
However it is not something that cannot be put right with some care. With proper dry facial skin treatment and care, you too can enjoy a glowing skin just like others.
Our skin needs moisture for it to stay supple and smooth. Once it is ripped of moisture it becomes dry and the overall appearance becomes dull. In order to keep the skin looking good it is important to incorporate some simple points in one’s dry facial skin care routine. The trick is to retain moisture.
Dry facial skin treatment involves the use of a good moisturizer first and foremost. A good moisturizer goes a long way in keeping your skin supple and smooth. During the day choose a moisturizer that contains an SPF to protect your skin against the damaging effects of the sun. Remember to use sunscreen generously and keep the most common reason for dry skin off. Before retiring for the night use a deep moisturizing lotion for face, hands and feet.
A good exfoliating lotion will help in removing the dead cells and helping your skin retain its original radiance and glow.
Precautions for Dry Facial Skin
Simple precautions when dealing with one’s skin also help. Avoid the use of harsh chemicals and drying agents on your skin. Harsh products take the moisture away from your skin and leave it dry and dull. If you have dry facial skin you should not have hot showers. Keep your showers lukewarm and short. And once you are out of your bath remember to moisturize your skin well.
When your skin feels itchy – do not leave it in that state. Repetitive scratching can cause real harm to your skin. Instead, use good lotions or oils that suit you to reduce itchiness.
Do not use harsh soaps but moisturizing ones. Increase your water intake. Drinking lots of water helps. Many skin care creams contain vitamins and among them vitamin E has been proven to rectify dry skin. You may also take Vitamin E capsules so as to fortify skin from the inside.
Be careful while using anti-ageing lotions. Creams containing retinol, alpha lipoic acid, or either alpha or beta hydroxyl acids work by chemically breaking down upper layers of skin. If you experience redness or rashes stop using your new cream and try something else that is milder.
Dryness may be worsened with decreasing humidity. You may choose to invest in a good humidifier. Consider sleeping with it on in your room and lock the moisture in by keeping doors closed.
Timely care of your dry facial skin is essential because if it is allowed to remain dry, it will show signs of premature aging over time. Remember that when it comes to dry facial skin it is not essential to always invest in expensive skin care products. One can use off-the-kitchen-shelf ingredients and use them as moisturizers and exfoliating agents etc and get equally effective results.

Spa Gift Certificates – She Can’t Say ‘NO’
Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009
Spa gift certificates are always a great gift, especially for women. In this article you will be able to learn about everything you need to know about spa certificates, where to get them and what to look for.
First of all you need to decide what kind of spa gift certificate you are going to give. You can choose between a certificate with an amount on it or for a particular service.
A gift certificate for a particular service has this advantage that you do not have to reveal how much you spent, and it is therefore more discrete. Remember however to make sure that you know what the person really likes and really wants. If you are not sure, then go for a cash certificate. It will allow a person to choose what they really want.
Now, you need to make sure that you agreed with the spa on the terms and you know what you are getting. It is very important, especially when you give a spa certificate for a particular service. You want everything to be paid for, so that the person you gave a certificate to can enjoy it to the fullest. It you give a certificate for a massage and facial, for example, make sure that both have been paid for, nit just one.
Day spa gift certificates come in different amounts. I would however recommend getting a few smaller amount gifts, than one larger. It will gift the receiver more flexibility when choosing a service.
Before buying and giving the certificate check the expiry date. Most day spa certificates will be good for at least few months. Also let the receiver know how long it is good for to avoid any problems in the future. You do not want the certificate to waste, and you do not want the receiver to rush to use it.
To buy spa gift certificate you can simply call your local spa or buy one on the interned. Buying on the internet has this advantage that you can quickly compare the prices and services. You can also read opinions of people who used the particular spa which is always a wise thing to do. After all you are going to spend quite a bit of money and you want your friend to be happy.
Gift spa certificates are always appreciated and I am sure your friend will enjoy the present.
Facial Toning Exercises – New Method In Fighting The Effects Of Aging
Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009
We all want to look young all the time and no one can say no to it. The sad thing is that we all age and unfortunately we can’t stop the time.
There are number of ways in which we can fight the effect of aging. We can use wildly available on the market cream and lotions. We can have a plastic surgery, which I am a big opponent of.
Those above methods are well known to all of us. I am sure you, just like me, have a small collection of anti aging creams in your bedrooms.
There is however a new method which is becoming more and more popular in the fight against aging. It is called facial toning. You might have heard about it, but I am quite sure that it is a new term for the most of you. The method per se is not that new as it has been around for over 30 years, it is just gaining popularity nowadays.
So what is it all about? Facial toning is a procedure which is aimed to minimize the existing wrinkles and prevent the appearance of new ones by increasing muscle tone in the face. Facial toning also prevents muscle loss due to factors such as aging.
All of this is achieved by facial exercising. Facial exercising is a natural, non-invasive and, whet really important these days, inexpensive way to achieve smoother and young looking facial skin.
For facial exercising to be effective you should exercise for at least five minutes every day. By exercising you keep your facial muscles tight which reduces the wrinkles you already might have and prevents new from appearing.
You should also start those exercises as soon as possible. Do not wait for the first wrinkles to appear. Remember, prevention is much easier and cheaper than treatment which you will have to do once the wrinkles appear.
Facial toning is one of the easiest ways to prevent wrinkles. As you probably noticed, it does not require anything. No expensive cosmetics, machines etc. Another great thing about facial toning and facial exercising is that it can be done anywhere and anytime. You do not have to do it at the doctor’s office; you do not have to arrange any meetings. You have a bit of free time – sure, do some facial exercises and help your skin to look younger and healthier.
Of course, the most comfortable place to do it would be your home, as it requires making some funny faces. But hey, how many times you have been sitting alone in your office on in your car stuck in the traffic jam? This is the perfect time to do some facial toning exercises.
In my opinion facial toning is a wonderful way to prevent and reduce wrinkles. If you have never tried it before this is the time to do it. Remember, it does not cost a penny and is very effective.
