The Essential Facial Treatment for Oily Skin
Tuesday, June 30th, 2009Oily skin is actually a blessing in disguise. This is because people with oily skin do not get wrinkles quite easily. Their skin ages slowly when compared to others who do not have an oily skin.
However oily skin comes with its own set of problems. First of all, it will give you an untidy look. Secondly, if you don’t clean your face properly then you may develop acne or pimples.
So you need a good facial cleanser for oily skin. This facial cleanser will help in cleaning the grease off. You have to regularly clean the grease and oil off your face or else the oil will cause dirt to stick on to your face. This dirt and filth would then clog up the pores of your skin and cause acne.
When choosing a facial cleanser, opt for one which contains salicylic acid. This salicylic acid is excellent for people suffering from acne and rosacea. Most of the popular facial creams, facial moisturizers and lotions contain this ingredient.
But be careful as frequent use of facial moisturizers for oily skin, which contain this chemical, can make your skin very dry. Therefore if the facial cream you are using contains salicylic acid then do not use it more than once or twice a day.
While choosing any facial moisturizer for oily skin, make sure that it does not dry up the skin completely for the whole day. If it is too strong it can be harmful for your skin in the long run. It is preferable to stay with mild cleansers that do their job and do not cause too much dryness for your skin.
A lot of people would want a homemade solution to their oily skin problem. They do not want to go for expensive skin care products. Such people may be pleasantly surprised to know that items present in their kitchen cabinets can help to make their skin beautiful.
1. Honey, lemon juice, apples, cucumbers, cumin etc are good for your health as well as for acquiring a great looking skin. If you have pimples on your face, then put some cabbage in boiling water. Now cool off the leaves and apply on your face for about 10 minutes. This can be an excellent treatment for pimples.
2. You can make a paste by first liquefying cucumber in a blender and mixing it with yogurt. This can also serve as an excellent homemade facial cleanser for oily skin.
3. Another good idea for oily skin treatment is to grate a few apples and mix them with honey. Apply on your face and leave it for 10-15 minutes.
4. Applying honey and cinnamon to your face at night is also a good option as a facial moisturizer for oily skin.
The beauty of using such homemade cleansers is that they are cheap and mostly contain natural ingredients which would not cause harmful side effects to your cherished skin.
Now you can have a great looking skin without emptying your pockets on expensive and often time’s harmful products available in the market. Even if you do go for such products, make sure that they are gentle on your skin.
Oily Facial Skin : Easy to care?
Tuesday, June 30th, 2009When your facial skin has a lot of shine, is prone to blackheads and acne and has course pores and other embarrassing blemishes, you can categorize it as oily facial skin. The sebaceous glands in this type of skin produce a lot of oil which may either be due to hereditary reasons or diet, climate or one’s skin care products.
Oily facial skin has its advantages. It ages slower than dry skin. But proper care is needed to reduce the effects of oil producing sebaceous glands.
The trick is to prevent pores from getting clogged. Keep your skin clean and free of dirt. Yet do not over wash your face. Three to four times a day is decent enough. Frequent washes may trigger your oil glands. Use hot water while washing as it dissolves skin oil better. You may want to wash with natural things like orange-peel powder or sandalwood powder once in the mornings. They are good for removing dirt from pores. At other times use gentle face washes.
Drink plenty of water and keep your body free of toxins. Remember, this is one huge step in getting closer towards a glowing complexion. The more toxins and harmful bacteria you get rid of the better it is for your oily face skin.
When in teens you may want to skip the moisturizing part completely if your skin is very oily. When it comes to oily facial skin, moisturizing is not as big a deal as cleansing. Focus more on cleansing than on moisturizing. A touch of moisturizer preferably a natural oil-free one in the mornings will do.
Cleanse your skin with care. Avoid heavy cleansing lotions and harsh soaps and go for light, non-greasy liquid cleansers. Also avoid cleansers that over dry your skin as this causes your skin to produce even more oil. If your skin feels exceptionally dry after using a particular cleanser stop its use.
Cosmetics and other skin products must be chosen with care. Look for products that are specifically designed for oily facial skin.
Apart from external care follow basic dietary habits and enjoy the results. Avoid sugar and salt in your diet. Include plenty of leafy green vegetables, fresh fruits and proteins.
Consume less oil. Avoid fried food and reduce the amount of fat. Steer clear of soft drinks. Chocolate and junk food are a strict no. And finally, strictly do not smoke.
What else can we do to treat oily facial skin?
Exercise regularly. Regular exercise can be difficult for some people. The trick here is to not consider exercise as a separate act. Try to do things manually and involve more physical movements in doing things. Leave the car and take a walk instead when you can. Do regular chores around the house. Exercise does great benefit to oily face skin as it boosts circulation and encourages blood flow.
Last but not the least – get a good night’s sleep. Sleep is a resting phase for the body and during this phase the body’s repair activity is at its best.
With proper care and precautions in place oily facial skin should not be a problem. Feel blessed that your skin will look young even as your body ages!
