Mothers And Daughters Follow The Same Ageing Process

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

The old saying of you can tell what a girl will look like when she’s older by looking at her mom really is factual. A U.S. study lately found that daughters do age and wrinkle like their mothers.

Through studying facial imaging and 3D computer modeling, plastic surgeons were able to study the aging process and discovered daughter’s wrinkle patterns are likely to follow after their mothers in terms of drooping and volume loss; especially around the lower eyelids, and corners of their eyes.

The study used three-dimensional computer modeling to measure changes in the aging female face. The study examined 10 sets of comparable looking mother-daughter pairs aged between 15 and 90 to measure changes in the aging female face. The mothers had similar skeletal and cellular composition which allowed researchers to determine the volume loss in the lower eyelid which started when ladies were in their mid-30s and commenced throughout their life.

Researchers believe that this study’s findings will act as a further guideline for cosmetic rejuvenation of the eye region. At this time, eyelid surgery is one of the most common cosmetic procedures used to lessen crow’s feet and sagging all-around the eyes which makes the face look much younger.

In 2008 eyelid surgery was the fourth most common type of cosmetic surgery in the U.S. Some of these surgeries were necessary because patient’s eyelids were baggy so much that they had a tough time keeping their eyes wide open. Yet, most patients had the procedure completed with the intention of reducing wrinkles.

Why is it women are expected to be stunning in every way? It seems that the media and everyday life means that women have to remain perfect and good looking or they’re useless. They waste hours and thousands of dollars on their hair, makeup, skin treatments, waxing, nails, clothing, surgeries, and everything else. When did Americans get so concerned about looks?

What happened to aging naturally? Now you see ladies that are 65 and seem like they’re 40. Those are the fortunate women but what about those that have had plastic surgery so numerous times that they end up looking like a cat and complete plastic. This is not good looking and it would have been better to have a a small number of wrinkles rather than some new discovery from outerspace.

Women in our day are active and have a lot of responsibilities. They work, raise children, participate in their church and community organizations, not to mention many other things. Yet, they must spend time maintaining not only their figures but their beauty. If women want to do these things that’s fine but society has put a lot of stress and importance on women’s looks and this is something that shouldn’t be a top priority but it is because if not many women don’t feel respected or good looking to not only men but other women.
